FBC DEACON MINISTRY
The Deacons at First Baptist Church take their tasks seriously of setting a godly example by pursuing personal holiness, loving and serving our church in tangible ways, and assisting the pastor in leading our congregation.
Here are the men who are currently serving in our Deacon Ministry.
Deacon - Vice Chairman
Children: Robin Michelle Binkley and Tamara Lynn Rothschild plus 3 granddaughters.
Hobbies: Reading, fishing, hunting.
David was raised in First Baptist of Polk City and accepted the Lord at Camp Gilead at the age of 10. He has served churches in several states. He was elected a Deacon in 1978 in Houston and has the gift of being a Servant. A graduate of the University of Florida and a Navy veteran, he serves as Sunday School Director and is in the choir.
David and Sandy have been married 10 years and seek the Lord’s guidance daily.
Verse: Favorite verse is whatever the Lord brings to mind to handle whatever situation being dwelt with.
Spouse: Fu Carpenter
Hobbies: Reading, working out at the community gym. Mike accepted the Lord in February 1993. He worked in the IT field for 31 years at a major financial institution.
In addition to Deacon Family Ministry, Mike serves through participation on church committees as well as singing both in choir and as part of the special music ministry.
Mike and his wife Fu are members of The Gideons International. Our goal is to win people to Jesus Christ through the placement and distribution of God’s Word.
Mike and Fu were married in June 2009.

Children: Valerie, Bonita, Diana plus 2 grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
Al accepted the Lord as his savior at age 7 in children's church and has tried to walk with Him ever since in all that he does. He has served in churches in several different capacities over the years including 7 years as a teacher in a Christian school. Currently he serves here as the head of audio-video operations as well as being a deacon. His career in the computer field enables him to support technology services for the church.
Al and Jane have been married 58 years and seek to abide in the Lord's direction every day. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Hobbies: Family, Hunting, Fishing, Outdoorsman
Andrew surrendered his life and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in 2013. Andrew has a passion for outreach and serving others.
Verse: Ephesians 6:11 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."
Spouse: Rachel Miller
Hobbies: Going for a walk, hiking, camping, biking, playing sports. He enjoys sitting out by the fire just enjoying stars in night sky.
He came to know the LORD as his Savior in the summer of 97.
He is involved in the youth ministry as one of the Leaders, where he gets to lead the kids in discussion about who Jesus is and what that means to them.
Rachel and Brandon are both fully involved in the music ministry as they are both in the choir and are part of an ensemble called Voices Raised.
Rachel and Brandon were married in January 2017

Hobbies: Woodworking, tinkering, serving
Keith moved to Polk City in 1973 when he was 8 years old. He came from an unchurched family. He met Tina when he was in the 6th grade. She invited him to church and he surrendered his life to Christ when he was 17 years old. They were married when he was 18 and now have two wonderful daughters. Keith and Tina have both served in youth and children ministries for over 25 years. Tina is still serving in children ministry. Keith was ordained as a deacon in 1992. Today he serves in men ministry and teaches a senior Sunday school class which he enjoys. Also he has the privilege of working for the city of Polk City as the Public Works Director
